Notes on... Yoga holiday at Les Passeroses

Yoga's been having a moment since before the first time leggings were okay. And this year, we've finally gone all in, with a week of bending and breathing and bending some more, in an unpronounceable corner of south west France.

Rated one of the top ten yoga holiday centres by The GuardianLes Passeroses is a beaut farmhouse, for holidays with yoga, rather than the sort of intense retreats that make you nervous. And talking of things not to be nervous about, if you don't have a yoga BFF, most of our smiley troupe came solo and took approximately 7.8 seconds to make a friend for keeps.

The mind-affirming trip was led by Dave Glover, a super relaxed, super experienced ashtanga teacher and all round top sort. We completed two sessions a day, which simultaneously challenged the yoga devotees, right along with keeping those who were relatively new to the practice engaged. Almost as much time was devoted to eating as yoga-ing with three, hours-long veggie meals a day from the owners, who we're persuading to bring out a cookery book so damned-good was their food. And wine comes by the carafe at Les Passeroses — perhaps a critical distinction between a holiday and a retreat.

A comforting, challenging, smile-making experience that you basically owe yourself.
