Notes On... Vegan by wagamama

If veganism and plant-based fooding was having a moment in 2017, it's sparkling uncontrollably this Jan, with dedicated menus arriving on the regs. Including this little lot from wagamama.

We went for a conservative order of all the sides, 80% of the mains and most of the raw juices, vegetabling those winter sniffles all the way into 2019. And while we enjoyed everything, if we were ordering for one rather than the whole greedy team, we'd go yasai pad thai with a gyoza side. A lot like the team's classic rice noodle dish, the vegan pad thai comes with tofu, beansprouts, leeks, chilli and red onion. The fried shallots, peanuts, and herby, limey topper is what keeps this hug-shaped dish textured and demanding of a clean plate. The coconut and lemongrass samla curry did a lot of things right but do heed its "spicy" description when ordering, and ask for extra napkins.

And be sure to search out your contented inner five-year-old before feasting, with wagamama's new mindful placemats. Cutsie colouring pencils and teeny tiny sharpener included.
