Notes On... Genting Hotel

In the League of Least Endearing First World Problems, complaining about not being able to go on holiday is right up there. So I won’t mention the thing I’m moaning about most this summer. But what if you could go away for a night, just a few miles from home, and feel a million miles away? Sign. Me. Up. Maybe even packing your suitcase, wearing your comfiest plane clothes, hopping off the train at B’ham International and pretending you're about to jet off to somewhere fabulous. But save yourself the flight time and just walk over to Genting Hotel at Resorts World. Maybe you could do that? Maybe I *did* that.

Owned by the Malaysian Genting group, the hotel’s décor is full of references to Southest Asian culture and feels fancy as heck. The summer staycation offer includes a signature room, which was more than adequate for this self-declared hotel aficionado, with a super king bed that's big enough to house a small family. But why hang out in your room when you can jump in the lift to floor 5 for afternoon tea at the not long refurbed Sky By The Water?

Next up: Santai spa to swim off that mango and coconut petit gateau I'd just inhaled. For me it's one of the best spas around, I'm looking at you, outdoor jacuzzi overlooking the lake, hot stone beds and ionised salt cave. But if chillin’ out is your main aim, go midweek or early AM to avoid the busiest times. I had the pool to myself on Sunday morning.

The Summer Staycation offer is available until Aug 31 and starts at £70 p/n. Deets here.
