Rain and shine (but mostly rain)

Trying to get a handle on what weather to expect when you leave home each morning is becoming an increasingly impossible task. Will there be a heatwave today? Or a monsoon-like downpour? Maybe a plague of locusts? Boss the tricky transitional season by switching a couple of summer staples for these autumnal pieces. But I can't help with the locusts.

Forecast is... ☀ and showers

Forecast is... humid af 💦

Loose-fitting, cool shirts mean you’ll stay far from the clammy side of life if it heats up. Clever you. Cos is one of my go-tos for drapey shirts, and this green one is top of my list. For a slightly more structured option, but still easy breezy, how about this flattering mustard silhouette from Reiss? If one-step-from-pjs is more your bag, People Tree have got you covered (in pink stripes). And if you're after work-friendly, you know M&S will see you right with this abstract patterned shirt. Just add jeans for a weekend look.

Forecast is... a chilly evening🌙

Carrying three different pairs of shoes at all times 'just in case'? Stop lugging them around like some kind of travelling shoe saleswoman, and invest in a pair of hardworking, chic ankle boots. Soft black leather and a brown block heel, these from Whistles' are very office apprope. If you're feeling more rootin-tootin cowboy, check out the faux brown croc pair from And Other Stories. Miss KG are bringing the oh-so-of-the-moment square toe with their super shiny patent black boots. And lastly, Anthropologie's beige croc effect is tactile and versatile, and will see you through as the evenings get cooler and darker. How long til Spring again?
